While on looks alone the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ may appear to offer performance beyond the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the truth is that the duo are very evenly matched.

As a matter of fact, the Aventador SVJ and GT2 RS occupy the two top spots in the list of fastest road-legal production vehicles to ever lap the Nurburgring with times of 6:44.97 and 6:47.25 respectively. In a rolling drag race, the two are also very well matched.

As these two videos posted up on Instagram show, the two exotics have remarkable in-gear acceleration and pull hard throughout their entire rev ranges.

On paper, the two are quite similar. Whereas the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ features a screaming 6.5-liter V12 engine with 759 hp and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque, the 911 GT2 RS features a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six churning out 690 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm). So, while the German has slightly less horsepower, it has a small torque advantage. The Porsche is also slightly lighter, tipping the scales at 3,241 lbs (1,470 kg) compared to the 3,362 lbs (1,524 kg) of the Lamborghini.

In the first race, both cars appear to get off the marks very evenly and the Porsche starts to creep ahead, making the most of its additional torque. However, as the speeds climb, the Lamborghini quickly pulls past its rival thanks to its added horsepower.

For what it’s worth, the GT2 RS is much, much cheaper than the Lamborghini, starting at $293,200 compared to the $573,966 of the SVJ. Both models were sold out shortly after being unveiled and are now only available on the used car market.
