Chevrolet has started to strip customer orders for the 5VM Visible Carbon Fiber Splitter and Side Skirts available on the C8 Corvette due to a supplier issue, Corvette Blogger reports.

The carbon fiber parts, which were a $4,850 option, proved to be very popular among those ordering a mid-engined ‘Vette. It is claimed that the supplier for these parts simply couldn’t meet the demand for the carbon fiber aero kit but others have been claiming it revolves around a quality control issue. Either way, many C8 customers to have ordered the carbon fiber add-ons will be disappointed to know they are no longer available.

The option has also been removed from the Corvette configurator.

While the news is bad for some Corvette buyers, it’s believed that some customers will be lucky enough to receive the carbon fiber goodies from the current inventory already sent to Chevrolet’s plant. It remains to be seen how many orders the car manufacturer may be able to fulfill with the carbon parts in stock.

Although many Corvettes in the production queue won’t arrive with their carbon fiber splitter and side skirts, Corvette Blogger adds that the kits will at some stage be available to order through the parts counters at local Chevrolet dealerships so Corvette owners will still be able to purchase them, it’ll just require a visit to a dealer where they will be installed.
