Vin Diesel has revealed that he is working on an all-female spin-off for the Fast and Furious franchise.

While recently speaking at an event to promote Fast and Furious 9, the actor and producer said that the script for the all-female spin-off is almost complete. While Diesel remained mum on details he did say that Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman is involved, as are Lindsey Beer and Captain Marvel’s Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Actor Nathalie Emmanuel who plays computer hacker Megan Ramsey appears particularly keen on an all-female Fast and Furious movie.

“I think it should be like a bad-ass girl movie,” she said. “It’d be cool to have a sort of Charlie’s Angels-type vibe but with, like, all women. I think that’s kind of fun.”

Michelle Rodriguez who plays Letty Ortiz added to this saying, “Definitely all the power pieces would need to be in place. See what Charlize [Theron] is doing? We’d be like, ‘Can we talk you into being a good girl?’ She’s so bad in this, right? She’s so mean. I love her, though.”

Before such a spin-off can become a reality, however, the ninth installment in the franchise has to be released. The film will debut in theaters on May 22 and include a host of cars including the 2020 Toyota Supra. Professional wrestler and actor John Cena has also been recruited for the film. Fast and Furious 10 is also in the works.
