Aston Martin Red Bull Racing will unveil its competitor for the 2020 Formula 1 season on February 12.

The new RB16 will be unveiled in the UK and previewed during a shakedown test at Silverstone. Red Bull Racing’s past two F1 cars have been unveiled with eye-catching camouflage paint schemes and liveries so it will be interesting to see if the 2020 car also adopts a similar finish.

This year will be an important one for Red Bull as it has one last chance to challenge Mercedes before the current era of F1 cars ends at the conclusion of the 2020 season. Last year, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed three race victories and finished third in the Drivers’ Championship behind Mercedes drivers Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.

At the start of January, Max Verstappen signed a contract extension with Red Bull, securing his seat at the team until 2023. Joining him this year will be Alex Albon but the Thai-British racing driver isn’t signed beyond the current year and if he doesn’t perform in 2020, he could be dropped by the team that has a cut-throat philosophy to young drivers who don’t perform.

This year’s championship will also be a big one for the team as it will be the final year that Aston Martin serves as the team’s title sponsor. Moving forward, Aston Martin will partner with the Racing Point F1 team after Lawrence Stroll recently acquired a 16.7 per cent stake in the British car manufacturer.
