The latest-generation 2021 Genesis G80 has finally landed and YouTuber Asian Petrolhead recently had the opportunity to check out the new car up-close during its premiere in South Korea.

In a world where car manufacturers often release new-generation vehicles that look virtually identical to their predecessors, Genesis could have been excused for simply tweaking the interior and exterior designs of the outgoing G80 and calling it a day.

Instead, the car manufacturer started with a blank sheet of paper and created a luxury car that not only looks radically different than its predecessor but also distinct from all other models in this segment.

Exterior wise, the new G80 adopts the brand’s ‘Athletic Elegance’ design language and features double-lined quad headlights and taillights. The luxury sedan also sports a large crest front grille and has a sleek four-door coupe body style that immediately makes the car stand out from other Genesis models.

This video spends a particularly long time discussing the interior which, like the exterior, is also a dramatic improvement over the outgoing G80. Most interior surfaces are bathed in soft-touch leather and there is some luxurious wood trim across the door panels, dashboard, and center console.

Other key features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with 3D technology and a widescreen 14.5-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, much like the system used in the Genesis GV80.

Power comes courtesy of a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivering 300 HP and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque but customers looking for some added grunt will be able to opt for a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 375 HP and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. Select markets will also be offered a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel with 207 HP and 325 lb-ft (441 Nm) of torque.
