A recent series of leaked images confirmed our worst fears that the new BMW M3 and M4 are set to adopt truly gigantic front kidney grilles similar to the Concept 4 from last year.

These renderings show how the two new cars will look when they start to reach the hands of customers. The two CGIs come courtesy of Instagram user zer.o.wt and depict the new M4 from both the front and the rear.

If you can peel your eyes away from the kidney grilles, you’ll notice that the new M4 will feature other similar parts to the Concept 4. For example, the new M3 and M4 will adopt sharper headlights than the ordinary 3-Series and 4-Series models while also sporting more aggressive front bumpers.

At the rear, it looks as though the M4 will have slightly sportier taillights than the M3 which will retain the same lamps as lesser 3-Series models. Also present will be BMW M’s customary quad tailpipes.

It’s not all bad news, however, as the new M3 and M4 promise to provide a decent jump in performance over the previous-generation models. Powering the duo will be the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six as the X3 M and X4 M. Standard models will produce 473 hp while range-topping M3 Competition and M4 Competition models will pump out 503 hp.

The two new M cars will also sport the M xDrive all-wheel drive system that can funnel all of its power to the rear wheels. It’s possible that a rear-wheel drive-only version will also be offered to customers.
