While electric vehicles are continually becoming ever more efficient, range anxiety and other issues remain a very real thing but with some kindness from a stranger, range concerns can be overcome.

Photos recently emerged out of China that show a white Tesla Model S pulled over to the side of the road after it ran out of juice. A young woman was driving the Tesla and left stranded. That is until a kind young man arrived on the scene with a BYD Song Pro DM and proceeded to give the Tesla some much-needed charge.

Car News China reports that the BYD model in question comes outfitted with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine as well as an electric motor and a 15.7 kWh battery pack. It offers up 50 miles (81 km) of all-electric range and supports vehicle-to-vehicle charging.

Local media says vehicle-to-vehicle charging between the two was limited to just 2 kW meaning it took 2 hours for the Tesla to get enough power to be able to drive to the nearest Supercharger station.

The BYD and Tesla drivers are said to have used this time to get to know each other and were pictured exchanging details. Who would have thought vehicle-to-vehicle charging could serve as the basis for a real-life love story?

BYD has been building the Song SUV since 2015 and launched the second-generation model pictured in 2019. In addition to the plug-in hybrid variant that came to the rescue of this Tesla driver, the SUV is sold in all-electric guise and with a petrol engine producing 152 hp.
