Garage Italia Customs is planning to expand its lineup of Icon-e electric vehicle conversions with the iconic Alfa Romeo Spider.

The aftermarket specialist made its intentions public on social media and shared several teaser renderings of the project as well. Expected to be named Garage Italia Duetto Icon-e, the electric convertible will be based on the fourth-generation Alfa Romeo Spider.

Why the fourth-generation Spider you ask? “Because we don’t like to mess with the classics… aaaand also because we like cars that drive straight and don’t rattle themselves to pieces,” Garage Italia Customs humorously notes in the announcement.

According to the company, the Duetto Icon-e will be “full electric, full restomod, pushing the bar higher than ever before.” The CGIs certainly look promising, with the Alfa Spider set to receive an unusual fully transparent hardtop. Compared to the production car, the bumpers appear modified, with the one at the rear losing the exhaust pipe for a clean look.

The Duetto Icon-e appears to feature LED headlights and taillights too, as well as chunkier custom wheels, shown here in a five-spoke design and gold finish. These renderings also suggest the stock door handles will be replaced by pop-out units and the side mirrors will be visually refined too for a more streamline look.

More significant changes appear to take place in the cabin, including new seats, redesigned air vents, racing door handles, red wood trim and a subwoofer behind the seats.

The most obvious upgrade can be spotted on the center console in the form of a gated shifter for the transmission. Why does it have six positions when the Duetto Icon-e will be fully electric? We guess we’ll just have to wait to find out.
