The 2020 Audi RS4 Avant may not be quite as potent as the RS6, but this video shows that it is still one hell of a performance machine.
Audi unveiled the current RS4 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show and recently gave the estate a facelift. While primarily includes some subtle styling changes such as new bumpers and revised lighting units, Audi also installed a particulate filter to ensure it meets emissions regulations in Europe. That begs the question, does this impact its performance?
CarWow recently put the new car to the test to find out. While the results aren’t particularly conclusive, it’s clear that the new RS4 Avant certainly isn’t any quicker than the pre-facelift model.

Powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with 444 hp and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm), Audi claims the car will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.1 seconds. However, the reviewer was able to launch this bright red test vehicle to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 3.6 seconds which is true supercar levels of performance. To put that figure into perspective, the same reviewer needed just 3.5 seconds to hit 60 mph with the pre-facelift model. However, that 0.1-second difference could be attributed to various things and isn’t necessarily due to the particulate filter.
Straight-line performance aside, the new RS4 looks like one heck of a performance machine. It is able to corner with true ferocity and when optioned with the available adaptive suspension, is just as comfortable as a normal A4. What’s not to like?
