Ford is conducting two safety campaigns in North America, over separate issues that affect only a handful of vehicles.

An improperly welded headrest bracket has led to the first recall, as its strength may have been reduced so it will not restrain the occupant accordingly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

This affects around 2,620 units of the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator in the United States, 159 in Canada and 19 in Mexico. The Expeditions were built at Kentucky from February 26 to March 18, 2020, and the Navigators were also manufactured at the same plant between February 27 and March 16 this year.

Authorized technicians will inspect the seat structure subsequent to making an appointment with an official dealer, and will decide whether it needs to be replaced.

The Dearborn company did not say when they will start informing owners, although those concerned or with questions on the topic can reach out to them using the 20C12 reference number.

The second recall includes only 15 F-Series Super Duty trucks, out of which 13 are in the U.S. and 2 in Canada. These are all powered by the 6.7-liter engine and pack the 10R140 transmission, and were assembled at Kentucky between January 13 and February 9, 2020, and at Ohio on January 29.

The trucks were built with a transmission torque converter damper plate that was not tempered, so the damper plate could fracture. Should this happen, the engine might stall and drivers will need to apply increased pressure on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle.

“The engine can be restarted, and mobility may be regained if the driver shifts to neutral or park. However, there could be an unexpected, aggressive re-engagement when shifting to drive or reverse and the potential for another engine stall”, Ford commented. “The vehicle will continue to exhibit these symptoms until the service fix is completed.”

As with the previous campaign, the car maker did not say when the owners will be contacted. The reference number for this recall is 20S33.
