The Karoq entered production three years ago, as Skoda’s compact crossover, with MQB underpinnings and ties to many VW Group vehicles.
In the meantime, the range was expanded with new powertrains and technology features, and it is about to welcome its first mid-cycle refresh. However, that is a story for another time, as we will now turn our attention to a long-term review courtesy of CarsIreland.

The model selected for the test was the mid-spec Style, which has a recommended retail price of €32,350 ($38,541) in Ireland, with the 115 HP 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine, or €33,585 ($40,012) for the 115 HP 1.6-liter TDI diesel, as the one featured on video below. Power is directed to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 5-6 l/100 km (47-39 mpg US). The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint takes 11 seconds and top speed is 186 km/h (116 mph).
The Karoq turned out to be a very practical ride, especially for a young family, with a generous boot space, wide-opening rear doors and a spacious back seat for a vehicle in this class. The generous equipment level included the 9.2-inch Columbus infotainment system with sat-nav, Wi-Fi connectivity, DAB radio, gesture control and others, which is responsive and easy to use, while the leather seats, panoramic sunroof and Isofix mounting points were also appreciated.
