Following the unveiling of the new-gen Ghost at the beginning of the month, Rolls-Royce has introduced the long wheelbase version, dubbed the Ghost Extended.

Set to go on sale shortly, with customer deliveries to commence before the end of the year, it provides more rear legroom than any other sedan made by the Goodwood company, save for the Phantom Extended.

Developed to be used as a chauffeured limousine, and created with feedback from customers, the Ghost Extended is 5,716 mm (225 inches) long, or 170 mm (6.7 inches) longer than the standard model. The extra length is due to the extended wheelbase, which has been stretched from 3,295 mm (129.7 inches) to 3,465 mm (136 inches), and the car has a curb weight of 5,730 lbs (2,599 kg), 46 kg (102 lbs) more than the regular Ghost.

In order to maintain the styling of the standard Ghost, Rolls-Royce’s designers have cloaked the extended length by stretching the rear doors and body around the apertures.

Inside, the Ghost Extended is available with the reclining Serenity seat. A champagne fridge has been installed between the rear seats, made with input from a master sommelier, and it operates in two cooling modes, chilling the drinks to 6°C and 11°C (43°F-52°F), as the optimum serving temperature of non-vintage champagne is around 6°C and for vintage champagne is approximately 11°C.

The twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 carries over unchanged, pumping out 563 HP (571 PS / 420 kW) at 5,000 rpm and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque at 1,600 rpm. Despite the added weight, Rolls-Royce quotes identical performance numbers to the regular Ghost, meaning 4.6 seconds for the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint (0-62 mph / 0-100 km/h in 4.8 sec) and a 155 mph (250 km/h) limited top speed.
