As this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed had to be canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, a special one-off event known as the Goodwood SpeedWeek took place over the weekend. The event attracted all kinds of amazing cars and these clips showcase of the finest vehicles competing in the ‘Driftkhana’ event.

The event took place through some tight sections around the Goodwood Circuit and required competitors to get as close to the walls as possible while also performing tight donuts around oil barrels complete with proximity sensors.

One of the most impressive runs was set by the driver of a heavily modified Nissan S15 200SX and while most of the vehicle’s competing were dedicated drift cars, a handful of rallycross drivers also brought along their all-wheel drive race cars. This included an all-electric ERX rallycross car. While the driver struggled with some sections of the course and simply couldn’t hold a drift as well as a rear-wheel drive drift car, he put on an impressive display.

Our favorite run of the weekend was performed by James Deane who is regarded as one of the best drifters in the world with both Formula Drift and Drift Masters European Championship titles under his belt. In Europe, he competes with an epic BMW E92 M3 known as the ‘Eurofighter’ and pumping out no less than 900 hp.

Another highlight was the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 driven by Vaughn Gitten Jr. This wild technical showcase has no less than seven electric motors but was driven in rear-wheel drive mode for his run. The big crossover performed very valiantly, even though its massive size impacted its maneuverability in some of the circuit’s tight sections.
