Having paid a visit to ABT Sportsline, the 2021 Audi S3 Sportback is now craving for a new nomenclature, as the tuner’s work has allowed it to get a small taste of the mega hatch realm.

Thanks to their own engine control unit, which will launch next month, the output of the turbo’d 2.0-liter engine has gone up from 310 PS (306 HP / 228 kW) to 370 PS (365 HP / 272 kW), while torque has increased from 400 to 450 Nm (295-332 lb-ft).

There is no official word on the performance of the tuned S3 Sportback, but it likely shaves some tenths of a second from the standard model’s 4.8 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint. Offered with a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive system, the standard variant has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Besides the power boost, ABT has also given it new wheels, 19- and 20-inch in size, with a gunmetal diamond polished and matte black look for the smaller offering, and glossy black and mystic black finish for the bigger sets.

The tuner’s logo adorns the exterior of the S3 Sportback and can also be found on the engine start/stop switch cap inside, where it is backlit.

For now, the ABT’s work has ended here, but they will launch an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust system for the latest S3 Sportback next spring. The part, which they claim to enhance the sound, will feature four 102-mm (4-in) tailpipes in matte black.
