It took Seat more than the earth’s trip around the sun to kick off the production of the Tarraco e-Hybrid, but the crossover will finally roll off the assembly line in Wolfsburg, Germany, this week.

Joining the new Leon e-Hybrid and the Mii Electric, the brand’s third electrified vehicle uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines the 150 PS (148 HP / 110 kW) 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with a 115 PS (113 HP / 85 kW) electric motor.

The Tarraco e-Hybrid enjoys a total output of 245 PS (242 HP / 180 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, which makes it the most powerful variant on sale. The 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration takes a little over 7 seconds and flat out, it will reach up to 205 km/h (127 mph).

The 13 kWh battery can be charged in less than 5 hours via a 2.3 kW charger and in 3 and a half hours when using a 3.6 kW charger. Once topped up, it gives the vehicle a WLTP-rated electric range of 44-49 km (27-30 miles), and a fuel consumption of 1.6-2.0 l/100 km (147-117.6 mpg US), with CO2 emissions as low as 37-46.4 g/km.

Drivers can choose from three different plug-in hybrid modes via the infotainment system, named the e-Mode, Automatic Hybrid and Manual Hybrid, and have two dedicated buttons next to the redesigned and illuminated gear knob for the e-Mode and s-Boost, with the former switching it to zero emissions and the latter increasing the performance. Owners can also interact with the vehicle remotely via the dedicated Connect app.

The plug-in hybrid Tarraco will be available as a five-seater, in the Xcellence and FR trim levels.
