In Europe, all fully electric vehicles are required by law to feature an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), capable of emitting an artificial sound in order to announce their presence on the road.
With the Enyaq iV, Skoda didn’t want its EV crossover to sound just like any vacuum cleaner and set out to create one of the most sophisticated and harmonious AVAS noises in the industry, developed in-house in collaboration with a team of composers.

“The Enyaq iV is an all-electric car, so it was quite a challenge to design a sound to match its identity. The sound was fine-tuned in the Volkswagen Group’s acoustic laboratory. One thing was clear from the start: it must be noticeably different from the sound emitted by plug-in hybrids,” said Pavel Orendas, whose team at the Skoda Development Center worked on the acoustic signature.
Unlike other carmakers that have tried to imitate the sound of an internal combustion engine, the Enyaq iV’s sound signature is more “electronic and futuristic”.
The sound itself is emitted from a speaker system built into the front fascia. The wide-frequency speaker and electronics are fully integrated into a small one-liter box mounted onto the battery cooling module using three rubber bushes. This saves weight because it eliminates the need for having additional speakers.
The all-new Skoda Enyaq iV will go on sale in the UK early next year, with deliveries scheduled to commence in the spring.
