General Motors revived the Hummer nameplate in emphatic fashion back in October and has now released a new video of the GMC Hummer EV in action.

This clip was posted to General Motors Design’s Instagram page and shows the electric pickup truck driving through city streets and off-roading along some scenic trails. It all looks rather impressive, even if the company gives a shoutout “to our GCV team for the awesome animation”, which implies that some, if not all, of the content was digitally created.

Nevertheless, the video does provide us with a look of what the GMC Hummer EV will look like on the move. Imposing is the first word that comes to mind as the truck isn’t only big but also has a design more akin to something you’d expect to see from a sci-fi movie rather than an actual production vehicle that anyone can buy and drive on the street.

As for its presence along off-road trails, the Hummer EV looks absolutely huge and certainly has all the credentials it needs to tackle some pretty unhospitable terrain.

The all-new Hummer EV uses an all-electric powertrain that in Edition 1 guise has three electric motors which deliver a combined 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft (15,592 Nm) of torque, allowing the truck to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in three seconds with the ‘Watts to Freedom’ launch control system. The Hummer EV will also use GM’s most advanced Ultium battery pack, which will provide a range exceeding 350 miles (563 km).
