Excellent news for hot Euro Ford lovers and classic rally fans as the iconic MK2 Escort returns on the roads as a continuation special, thanks to the joint efforts of UK’s MST Cars and Motorsport Tools.

The MST MK2 Escort is completely new, based on the Group-4 rally car, and even road-legal in the UK, courtesy of the country’s Individual Type Approval. The first example has now been completed, according to the company’s Facebook page, and will be used as a test car, and the company is now accepting orders for new Escorts, aiming to sell them worldwide. They even offer the option for an MK1 Escort, if you prefer its more rounded shape.

As for the engines, the new MK2 Escort comes fitted with a 200-plus HP 2.5-liter Duratec four-cylinder unit as standard, paired to a close-ratio manual transmission and an Atlas axle with a limited-slip differential. You can also opt for a 230-plus HP 2.0-liter BDG engine or a 2.5-liter Millington Diamond engine with over 300 HP, as well as a six-speed sequential transmission. The hydraulic handbrake is standard, in case you were wondering.

Prices start from £65,000 ($88k in current exchange rates) plus taxes, with customers able to completely personalize their new Escort. MST says they can pick any color they like, as well as narrow or wide body, a leather-trimmed interior, spot lamps, and of course rally mudflaps.

The bodyshell is built from the ground up at a Group-4 rally spec and includes a full weld-in roll cage while the prototype is fitted with the 2.5-liter Duratec engine, which features ATP throttle bodies, AP brakes, and Bilstein coilovers.

Production is expected to begin in the next few months, with MST able to build around 12 examples per year. Combined with a price that undercuts pretty much every serious restomod out there, we’re guessing that the waiting list is going to be a long one.
