The 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon has kicked off online with a few virtual presentations today, such as this modded 2021 Nissan Kicks.

Modified by Autech, which also has two other Nissans on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon, the Note and Elgrand, the Kicks is finished in a bi-tone blue and black shade, contrasted by shiny accents applied to the front bumper, side skirts, door handles, side mirror casings, and roof rails.

The upgraded fog lamp housings with LEDs, bespoke aluminum alloy wheels, and ‘Autech’ badge applied to the grille are part of the makeover.

Inside, this special Kicks features black and blue leatherette, stitched together with blue string. The upholstery was applied to the seats, door cards, armrests, steering wheel, and other parts of the cabin, which seems to be equipped with the optional 8-inch infotainment system rather than the standard 7-inch display.

Japan’s version of the 2021 Kicks uses an electrified powertrain, with the 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine acting as a range extender for the 1.57 kWh lithium-ion battery, which powers a small electric motor. The model has a combined 127 HP (129 PS / 95 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque available on tap, and drivers have four dedicated modes at the push of a button: Normal, S, Eco, and pure EV.

The American variant of the small crossover on the other hand features a basic 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit, with 122 HP (124 PS / 91 kW) and 114 lb-ft (155 Nm), which works in concert with a CVT that sends power to the front wheels exclusively.
