The Koenigsegg Agera RS and SSC Tuatara may be faster in a straight line but the Bugatti Chiron remains one of the most remarkable performance cars on the market and this video shows just how terrifyingly fast it can be on the road.

We recently stumbled across this clip after it was shared to Reddit having been uploaded to YouTube in late December. It was uploaded with the title ‘Bugatti chiron flyby sound at 373 km/h’ and shows the French hypercar speeding along a two-lane road in Portugal.

While the video is only short, it doesn’t just demonstrate how fast the Chiron is in a straight-line but perfectly showcases the note of its engine and exhaust which sound more like a passing jet fighter than a car. As the Chiron speeds past the camera, the driver can be seen hitting the brakes and deploying the airbrake to brake for an upcoming right-hand bend in the road.

The ‘regular’ Bugatti Chiron has an electronically limited top speed of 261 mph (420 km/h) and while the car is easily capable of the 231 mph (373 km/h) it is alleged to be traveling in this video, there’s no way it was going that fast here. Those on Reddit with far more advanced mathematic skills than me suggest it was probably traveling between 160 mph (257 km/h) and 180 mph (289 km/h) in this video, speeds that are still extremely scary given how narrow the road was.
