Ferrari is hard at work developing the Purosangue, its first-ever SUV, and recently took a prototype to Sweden for some winter testing.
The Purosangue prototype in question was snapped up close by Instagram user Stephan Barral, and while it is laden with Maserati parts, it closely mimics other Purosangue prototypes spied throughout Italy.
For example, the front end appears to have been lifted from a Maserati Levante, as evidenced by the headlights and front grille. Similarly, the rear end is using a mish-mash of Maserati parts in a bid to hide the vehicle’s identity.

One interesting thing to note about this prototype, as well as others, is that it doesn’t really look like an SUV, as it sits quite low to the ground and is instead more similar in shape to the discontinued GTC4Lusso which the Purosangue will effectively replace. The most likely explanation for this is that Ferrari simply isn’t ready to begin testing the vehicle with the SUV bodywork and jacked-up ride height that it will feature when it hits dealerships. Instead, they are likely testing the vehicle’s powertrains, suspension, and various other components.
The Purosangue is expected to come as standard with the same 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the GTC4Lusso T that’ll be tuned to deliver around 650 hp, making Ferrari’s SUV a perfect match for the Lamborghini Urus. It is no secret that Lamborghini is developing a hybrid variant of its own SUV, so it’s likely that Ferrari will follow suit with a hybrid version of the Purosangue.
We expect to see the Ferrari Purosangue unveiled late this year before it hits the market in 2022.
