The Toyota GR Yaris is a superb performance machine out of the box but UK tuner Litchfield has started modifying the hatch with the aim of making it even more impressive. The crew recently had the opportunity to see the result.

Litchfield currently has two GR Yaris models in its garage and is in the midst of developing various performance upgrades for them. One of the key upgrades already developed by the company is a tuning box that boosts the 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine up to 300 hp, an impressive gain of 43 horses. Things won’t stop there as Litchfield still needs to crack into the stock ECU and is also developing air intake and exhaust systems for the car.

However, it is not the engine upgrade that has really transformed how the hot hatch performs. Instead, it is the revised suspension.

The standard GR Yaris has quite a firm ride and unlike some of its rivals, the suspension isn’t adjustable. To resolve this, Litchfield has partnered with Nitron and is putting the final touches to two separate suspension kits for the car. These consist of 2-way and 3-way adjustable dampers for the duo, as well as new springs, that don’t just drop the ride height but give the car far superior road handling abilities than stock. In fact, the reviewer says the new suspension gives the car a similar feel to Porsche’s finest GT models.
