The Ferrari F40 is probably the automaker’s most famous model, but it is out of reach for most people. That’s where this F40 replica comes in.

Currently up for sale through Worldwide Vintage Autos in Denver, Colorado, this F40 replica is based on a Pontiac Fiero and has an asking price of $24,900. While that’s quite a lot for what is essentially a Fiero beneath the skin, it might not be that unreasonable considering the time that would have been spent crafting the car’s custom exterior.

Up front, it does a decent job of replicating the look of the F40 but the proportions, and the headlights, are a little bit off. The odd proportions are particularly evident when looking at the car from the side but even so, it might fool some into thinking it’s the real deal.

The rear sports the same wing as a genuine F40 and also features similar round taillights and the same three tailpipes. However, while the exterior design is somewhat reminiscent of the real thing, the same cannot be said about the interior. In fact, the only obvious alteration made to the Fiero’s cabin is the fitment of a new four-spoke steering wheel with a prancing horse badge… that’s upside down.

Powering the replica is a 383 cubic-inch V8 engine coupled to a five-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The listing notes the car has only been driven 564 miles since its transformation.
