If you’re one of the many people who saw the Hummer EV pickup and thought it looked great, there’s more good news. GMC has announced that it will unveil the SUV version of the Hummer on April 3.
The unveiling will happen at 5 PM EDT during the NCAA Final Four basketball game. If you can’t watch the broadcast, GMC will livestream the launch at GMC.com at the same time.
As with the pickup, which launched during the World Series, reservations will open as the SUV is unveiled.
Thanks to an early glimpse of the vehicle shared by GMC, we know that the SUV body-style of the Hummer EV will be largely similar to the Hummer pickup, albeit with the addition of more metal over the rear wheels. Indeed, it will be a classic two-box SUV design and will, apparently, have a spare tire on the hatch, which is fun.

There’s nothing to suggest that the SUV’s powertrains will be any different than the pickup version. That should mean an option of two or three electric motors, more than 350 miles of range, and 800-volt fast charging that can return nearly 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
We expect the cabin to remain mostly the same and will include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.4-inch infotainment system that provides access to a number of fun features like crab mode and legitimate off-road capabilities.
Reports suggest that the Hummer SUV will hit dealerships about a year after the pickup. That should mean it will hit the streets in late 2022 as a 2023 model year vehicle.
The automaker made the announcement with a video of the Hummer EV pickup winter testing in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
