Honda is sending off the S660 roadster in style with the release of a special variant dubbed the Module X Version Z.

The new model is based on the ‘regular’ S660 Modulo X variant and is offered in a new color dubbed Sonic Gray Pearl. Those not fond of this color can also opt for Premium Star White Pearl. The car also comes equipped with tinted emblems, black alloy wheels, a rear spoiler finished in black, and a Bordeux Red fabric top.

No powertrain modifications have been made. As such, the 658 cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine continues to deliver 63 hp and 77 lb-ft (104 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels and while other variants of the S660 are offered with a CVT, the Modulo X Version Z isn’t.

Japanese buyers can pick up the Honda S660 Modulo X Version Z from 3,150,400 yen, or roughly $29,000 at current rates.

Honda released the cute S660 in April 2015 and since then, more than 30,000 units have been sold. Unfortunately, the car will be axed in March 2022.

The car manufacturer hasn’t stated why production will cease but local publication Response suggests it is because of various regulation changes in Japan, including the mandatory fitment of automatic emergency braking, a feature that the S660 doesn’t have. Japan is also tightening regulations on kei cars in a bid to encourage car manufacturers to adopt electrification.
