The 2021 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 starts at $112,595 but over the weekend, someone paid $2.5 million for the first example produced.

For quite some time car collectors have been spending exorbitant sums for VIN 001 vehicles at auction, and this Hummer EV Edition 1 is no different. All of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation formed in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller who died on September 11, 2001. The foundation supports disabled veterans and families of fallen first responders.

The Edition 1 variant of the GMC Hummer EV is the first to hit the market and tops out the range. It features a tri-motor powertrain pumping out an impressive 1,000 hp, allowing the pickup to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in approximately three seconds with the ‘Watts to Freedom’ launch control system, while it can also travel more than 350 miles (563 km) on a single charge.

The Edition 1 is painted white as standard and includes transparent Sky Panels which can be removed and stored in the frunk. GMC has also equipped the model with the Extreme Off-Road Package that includes underbody protection, rock sliders, and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch off-road tires.

Inside, the Edition 1 features the ‘Lunar Horizon’ trim package that includes bronze accents, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 13.4-inch infotainment system, and a 14-speaker Bose audio system.
