Described as a near-production prototype, the 800 is set to become the Tank’s flagship luxury model.

A sub-brand of Great Wall Motors’s Wey brand, you may recognize Tank from the recent tremendously rad Cybertank concept. This week, they’re going after jet set with this new halo product.

With a massive grille, huge headlights, and an upright stance, it features all of the hallmarks of an imperious luxury SUV. The concept’s color palette, meanwhile, of purple and gold, gives it a regal look that you don’t often see these days.

The Tank 800 will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 that the company has designed itself, reports China’s Auto 163. The engine will get help from a plug-in hybrid system, making it more efficient and smoother. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Taking plenty of inspiration from Rolls-Royce’s Cullinan SUV, the Tank 800 will get a starry roof liner, electric front and rear doors, privacy curtains, and business-class rear seats. Only the finest materials, like crystal, metal, wood, leather, and even velvet will grace the interior of this big luxury vehicle.

Tank also promises level 3 autonomous functionality and an auto valet functions to keep the 800 thoroughly technologically advanced as well as luxurious. It won’t all be self-driving, though. With adaptive suspension tech, it also promises to be a handy off-roader.

The production version of the Tank 800 is expected to hit China’s roads in 2022.
