Lightweight Performance Cranks The BMW M2 Competition Up To 730 HP

The 2021 BMW M3/M4 is a fine piece of machinery but it’s become larger, heavier and more expensive than ever, so those looking to get into an M car might find the smaller M2 Competition more attractive. Moreover, as this example from Lightweight Performance shows, it it can be modified to deliver some very serious figures.

Lightweight Performance has crafted this bespoke M2 Competition as a farewell to the current M2, dubbing the car the ‘Finale Edition’ and leaving no stone unturned in making it quicker and handle better.

For starters, the German tuning company has worked extensively on the M2 Competition’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six that was first used in the F80 M3 and F82 M4. The company says it has tuned this engine and, presumably, also fitted a pair of new turbochargers. Complementing the engine changes is a new downpipe and a custom exhaust. All up, the M2 Performance Finale Edition from Lightweight Performance delivers 730 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.

In addition to tweaking the engine, the tuner has fitted an Eibach Pro Street Multi suspension system and a BMW M Performance brake system with a bespoke cooling kit and steel braided brake lines.

Various visual updates make this M2 stand out from a regular M2 Competition. Chief among the visual changes are 19-inch forged wheels and carbon fiber across the roof, front splitter, rear lip spoiler, diffuser, and fenders.

Significant alterations have also been made to the interior. Most notably, rear seats very similar to the front seats of the M2 CS have been installed. The sports car also rocks a blue short shifter and blue pedals.
