The new Ford Bronco Sport is literally flying off dealership lots and already, a tuning company by the name of Vivid Racing has begun modifying the SUV.

Priced at just $600, Vivid’s reflash for the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine of the Bronco Sport Badlands and First Edition models leads to a significant increase in power, as a recent dyno test reveals.

When strapped onto the tuner’s Mustang dyno, an unfettled Bronco pumped out 186 hp and 246 lb-ft through the wheels, roughly in line with Ford’s claims of 245 hp and 275 lb-ft at the crank. After Vivid Racing flashed the ECU, the SUV pumped out 222 hp and 300 lb-ft through the wheels, which roughly translates to about 305 hp and 350 lb-ft at the crank.

Beyond simply lifting the headline horsepower and torque figures, the tune also increases power from midrange to the redline while also sharpening the throttle response.

Ford Bronco Sport owners looking to have their vehicles tuned won’t need to take the SUV into Vivid’s shop and can simply remove the stock ECU and send it to the tuner. Vivid will then prepare the tune and ship back the ECU for re-installation. Vivid also offers a “pops and bang burble” tune for the Bronco Sport and can also disable the Start/Stop function and raise the top speed limiter. It also offers a race exhaust for the Bronco Sport although we don’t yet know what it sounds like.
