Volkswagen is gearing up to introduce the ID.6 on April 17th, but that isn’t the only electric vehicle on the horizon. Quite the opposite as the company has kicked off the teaser campaign for the ID.4 GTX.

In a tweet, the company released a short video which shows the letter “G” in front of a red background. The color is closely associated with GTI models, but it’s clear this is the GTX as Volkswagen asked “Are you ready for the next ID.?”

The company is keeping details under wraps but, when they unveiled their EV-focused Accelerate plan in March, they confirmed the ID.4 GTX would be introduced in the first half of 2021. Volkswagen hasn’t given a specific date, but the teaser says “stay tuned.”

Little is known about the model at this point, but it’s expected to have a dual motor all-wheel drive system that produces a combined output of 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 339 lb-ft (460 Nm) of torque. This could enable the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.2 seconds, which would make it over a second quicker than the standard ID.4

Besides the upgraded powertrain, the ID.4 GTX could be equipped with a returned suspension that features a lower ride height. There could also be minor styling modifications, including red accents as suggested by the teaser video.
