The Ford Bronco promises to be a capable off-roader and that’s a good thing as it’s experienced a pretty bumpy road so far.

The model was extensively leaked ahead of its unveiling and its debut was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. When Ford tried to get things back on track, they scheduled the unveiling on O.J. Simpson’s birthday and were forced to postpone the debut yet again.

When the Bronco was finally introduced last July, the model was an instant hit as customers lined up to place their reservations. Unfortunately for some of them, the Bronco’s turbulent launch continues.

Hooniverse posted an e-mail from Ford which thanked customers for being patient through the pandemic, unprecedented demand, supply chain hurdles, and “countless other things you don’t give a damn about”. However, it goes on to say more patience is required.

Noting that “this launch has scuttled our best intentions and assumptions,” the e-mail said the automaker can’t give customers a delivery timing update as the Bronco’s hardtop is their “Achilles heel.” Ford went on to explain their production capability doesn’t match up with demand and they’re “investing millions of dollars to fix our roof supply issue.” Despite that, the problem can’t be solved overnight and buyers will be left guessing when their Bronco will arrive.

That’s disheartening news, but Ford promised to keep customers updated. The company also added that customers can get priority access to the Bronco Off-Roadeo, which is an off-road experience that will be held in four different locations later this year. That isn’t much consolation, but hopefully the issues will get worked out sooner rather than later.
