An intriguing 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser has hit the market and if you’re looking for a unique alternative to a Jeep Wrangler, this could be the off-roader for you.
Toyota never produced the FJ Cruiser as a convertible; instead, a previous owner of this one sent it to Newport Convertible Engineering in California for a convertible conversion. To make it a reality, a power-operated cloth soft top was fitted and according to the Cars & Bids listing, roughly 35 FJs were converted by the company.

A handful of other modifications have been made to this FJ Cruiser. For example, it features 17-inch TRD wheels, Bilstein struts, an Airlift rear air suspension system, and a locking center console. There’s also a TRD antenna, rain guards on the windows, a remote engine starter, Toyo tires, and FJ-branded metal door sill plates.
Among the standard features that the car left the factory with are a locking rear differential, skid plates, black fenders flares and bumpers, a full-size rear-mounted spare wheel and cover, trailer hitch, water-repellent seats, rubber-like flooring in the cabin and cargo areas, a CD player, and a nine-speaker sound system.
The listing adds that the car has service records and logs and that the convertible top was replaced with a new one in March 2021 just prior to sale.
Like all FJ Cruisers, this one is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine producing 239 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque that drives all four wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case.
