While we are waiting for the production-spec 2022 Nissan Z to be unveiled, the Japanese car manufacturer is continuing to show off the Z Proto and most recently, brought it to a Cars and Coffee event in Nashville.

This clip comes courtesy of Byron Glover Jr. from the YouTube channel Drive615 who had the opportunity to follow the car’s journey from Nissan’s U.S. headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee through to the event in Nashville where the Z Proto was given the red velvet rope treatment and shown to attendees. The fluorescent yellow paint scheme might not be to everyone’s taste but there’s no denying that the exterior design of the Z Proto is eye-catching and looks even better out in public than it did in press photos released last year.

The YouTuber also had the opportunity to briefly check out the interior of the Z Proto. As we already know, this show car features a six-speed manual transmission although we understand that the production model will also be offered with a Mercedes-sourced 9G-Tronic for those that aren’t so fond of rowing their own gears. The six-speed is said to be a carryover from the 370Z.

As for power, we know that both the Z Proto featured here and the production model will have the company’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Horsepower and torque figures remain unconfirmed but the 2022 Z will reportedly pump out 400 hp, giving it a power advantage over the Toyota Supra.
