Ever since being revealed, FCA’s 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 has been used in a plethora of wild engine swaps but of them all, this one might just be the craziest.

What you’re looking at is a heavily-modified 1948 Dodge Power Wagon school bus that was sold by Mecum Auctions over the weekend for $60,500.

This unique Power Wagon was originally built in just 10 months for the SEMA Show back in 2019. Beyond installing a Hellcat V8, builder Alan Vanevenhoven fitted the Dodge with a 46RH overdrive automatic transmission and an NP208 transfer case. We can’t begin to imagine what it would be like to drive this thing but it would no doubt attract heaps of attention on the street and make kids wish that this really was the bus that took them to school every morning.

The listing adds that the Dodge was fitted with power disc brakes at all four corners and also features ceramic headers and a 3-inch stainless steel exhaust system.

Like any school bus, the Power Wagon is painted in a bright shade of yellow and includes black wheel fenders at the front. It also features unique black front and rear bumpers, as well as wide tires and wheels but one would have no idea about what powers the vehicle simply by looking at it. In fact, it almost looks like a normal school bus, albeit a very short one.

The interior is very bare and features steel-framed bench seats at the back and a steel frame driver’s seat.
