As soon as customer deliveries of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette started, a number of tuning firms started to fit twin-turbocharger systems to the 6.2-liter V8. The twin-turbo’d C8 featured in this video comes courtesy of FuelTech USA and recently enjoyed a day out at the drag strip.

To boost the performance of this Corvette, FuelTech has bolted on a pair of Garrett G35-900 turbochargers that run at 21 psi of boost. The engine has also been modified to run on methanol and pumps out 1,075 hp to the rear wheels.

As standard, the mid-engined C8 Corvette is an absolute weapon off the line, so much so that it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 3 seconds straight out of the box. The added power of this example, plus its Mickey Thompson ET Street R drag radial tires, make it much more potent.

In fact, during a recent run at the South Georgia Motorsports Park, the car managed to sprint down the quarter-mile in just 9.61 seconds at 148 mph 238 km/h). During one of these runs, it lifted its front wheels off the tarmac, making for a rather spectacular sight.

The current record quarter-mile time for a C8 Corvette sits at 9.41 seconds. However, as tuners begin to extract more and more power from the V8, it may not stand for long.
