Alpine, the Renault Group’s performance-oriented brand, has provided us with the first glimpse of their upcoming all-electric range of sporty and premium models that will include a grand tourer, a hot hatch, and a sportscar.

The French performance brand’s first electric model will be unveiled in 2024 as confirmed by Renault Group CEO, Luca de Meo during the “EWays Electro Pop” event.

Today, Alpine offers a single-model range with the A110 mid-engined sportscar available in different trim levels. As reported by Autocar, the A110 will be replaced by a brand new electric sportscar that is currently under development in collaboration with Lotus.

From the shadowy teaser, we can see that it retains the mid-engined proportions with a sleek roofline and toned-up rear fenders. We expect improved performance figures thanks to the electric powertrain and an active suspension combining sharp handling with comfort.

A very interesting addition to Alpine’s range is the hot hatch which is clearly based on the upcoming Renault 5 electric supermini. This one is fitted with a large rear wing, a bonnet scoop, and what appears to be extra lighting units on the front bumper, reminiscent of the Renault 5 Turbo from the ’80s.

Alpine’s hot hatch will be based on the CMF-BEV platform which is an evolution to the CMF-B architecture currently used in Renault Group’s B-Segment models (Renault Clio, Nissan Micra, Dacia Sandero, etc). According to Renault, it will be 33% cheaper to produce compared to the current generation Zoe electric supermini, and offer a range of up to 400 km (249 miles). For the spiced-up Alpine-branded model, we expect an impressive power output making it a worthy electrified successor of Renault Sport’s Clio V6.

Finally, Alpine will also launch a premium grand tourer flagship that will compete with the likes of Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S and Audi e-tron GT. It will be based on the new CMF-EV platform developed for the C-Segment and D-Segment models of various Renault Group brands (Renault, Nissan, Alpine, Mitsubishi, Dacia, Lada) that will reach a combined production of 700,000 units by 2025.

According to Renault, the new architecture will offer enhanced driving pleasure thanks to the low center of gravity, the ideal weight distribution, the multi-link rear suspension, and the quick steering ratio. The French company talks about “unparalleled performance”, greater roominess,s and an electric range of up to 580 km (360 miles).

We will have more information about the new Alpine models as we reach closer to the first new models reveal in 2024. It wouldn’t surprise us if the company launches a concept car previewing the upcoming production version sometime during the next year.
