RML Group has released the first images of its reimagined Ferrari 250 GT SWB, dubbed the Short Wheelbase.

Not to be confused with the Ferrari 250 GTO-inspired Squalo being developed by fellow British company GTO Engineering, RML’s Short Wheelbase will be unveiled this year before customer deliveries start in 2022 and will be capped at just 30 units.

The company says they designed the interior to fit drivers from 5 ft to 6’6” and includes an adjustable steering column for reach and rake. It also features bespoke seats that can be trimmed in either leather or Alcantara and every single switch and button has been developed in-house by RML.

“We had a ‘no-plastic’ mantra when we started designing the interior,” RML’s head of design, Jonathan Bowen, said. “It would have been easy to save tens of thousands of pounds buying off-the-shelf dials and controls, but they would not have met our high standards. Therefore, every switch, button and clock you see in the Short Wheelbase is bespoke, and developed in-house. The conical dials you see across the dashboard are inspired by high-end watchmaking, and everything you can see and touch in the cabin is either machined aluminum, glass or leather.”

The cabin comes loaded with modern-day amenities that include an air conditioning unit, electric windows, cup holders, and various storage cubbies. It also features an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support that can be hidden completely and pops up from the transmission tunnel only when it’s needed.

Powering the RML Short Wheelbase will be a naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V12 from a Ferrari 550 Maranello delivering 478 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with a gated shifter powering the rear wheels, allowing the car to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 185 mph (297 km/h).
