A Toyota Camry has been destroyed in China following multiple explosions that seemingly came out of nowhere.

Dashcam footage of this incident was recently uploaded to YouTube and shows the Toyota, which is believed to be a Camry Classical variant built exclusively for the Chinese market, cruising down a busy city street. All of a sudden, the car explodes, creating a massive fireball and sending shrapnel across the road.

It is claimed that the driver managed to escape from the car just after this explosion and that’s good because the explosions didn’t stop there. With the car fully engulfed in flames, it exploded once again, this time in even more dramatic fashion, and creating a massive mushroom cloud of flames and smoke.

The individual who originally uploaded the video claims that the car was powered by compressed natural gas. However, a little bit of research reveals that the Toyota Camry Classical wasn’t powered by compressed natural gas and available with traditional 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter engines. It’s possible that the owner converted it to compressed natural gas and the dodgy install of such a system could explain why it exploded out of nowhere.

Interestingly, a user on Reddit claims that the car wasn’t CNG powered and instead carrying a natural gas or propane tank in the trunk which exploded.

Whatever the case may be, the driver was extremely fortunate not to be killed in the incident.
