Land Rover today announced that it has added a new set of design and tech options to the 2022 Range Rover Velar. The additions include a new special edition, new exterior colors options, and a new cabin air purification system and over-the-air updates.

The Limited Auric Edition

Starting with the new limited-edition model, the Range Rover Velar Auric Edition is named after the Latin “Aurum,” which means gold. The name is a nod to the exclusive Auric Atlas exterior trim finishes that feature on the grille, the badges, the hood, the doors, and the front fender vents.

Based on the Velar R-Dynamic S trim, the Auric Edition can be ordered in three exterior colors: Ostuni Pearl White, Santorini Black, and Charente Grey, the last of which is reserved exclusively for the Auric Edition. The alloy wheels, meanwhile, are 20-inches in size, and finished in Mercurial Gloss Sparkle Silver, though 22-inch Pincer wheels can be selected instead. Privacy glass completes the look.

The Range Rover Velar Auric Edition is available with the SUV’s full range of four- and six-cylinder engines, as well as with the P400e Plug-in Hybrid drivetrain that offers 33 miles (53 km) of EV driving.

SV Bespoke Paint Colors

Even if they opt not to get the Auric Edition of the Range Rover Velar, buyers will be offered new exterior design options with the SV Bespoke Premium Palette. New additions include Tourmaline Brown, Amethyst-Grey Purple, and Petrolix Blue. If none of those interest you, SV Bespoke will also offer customers a color-matching service that allows them to create their own unique paint.

Over-The-Air Updates

Land Rover‘s Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment systems feature crisp graphics and super-fast responsiveness but don’t yet offer wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. That’s set to change, though, thanks to the system’s facility for over-the-air updates.

Customers will be able to update their vehicles’ infotainment systems to include wireless smartphone interfaces. Both will be available at the same time before the end of 2021.

Cabin Air Purification Plus

Building on the Range Rover Velar‘s existing air ionization system, a new PM2.5 filtration system will add to the SUV’s interior comfort. The Cabin Air Purification Plus system includes interior and exterior air quality sensors that detect if CO2 levels rise above optimal levels and scrubs it out.

The Purify Cycle feature, meanwhile, will allow users to schedule an air cleaning cycle in the vehicle to make sure it’s fresh every time you get in. It also offers owners the ability to monitor air quality and purify it with the touch of a button.

Steering Assist

Land Rover has also chosen to expand the Range Rover Velar’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems. That means a rear camera comes as standard now and adaptive cruise control with steering assist to help drivers on long journeys.

Prices for the Range Rover Velar start at £45,925 ($62,710 USD) in the U.K. The Auric Edition, meanwhile, is on sale now and prices start at €70,085 ($81,869 USD) in Germany.
