Acura has dropped a bombshell by announcing that the famed Integra nameplate will be revived by a new compact premium car.

The car manufacturer made the announcement during its annual appearance at Monterey Car Week. A single teaser image and video of the car has been released, providing us with a glimpse of the car’s headlight, LED daytime running light, grille, and an Integra logo directly beneath the headlight.

It’s hard not to notice the similarities between the headlight of the new Integra and the current Acura TLX Type S as it has a very similar shape and the LED daytime running light is almost identical. From what we can see, the grille will also have a similar angular appearance to that of the TLX.

“The Integra is back,” vice president and Acura Brand Officer Jon Ikeda said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to say Integra is returning to the Acura lineup with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling our commitment to Precision Crafted Performance in every way – design, performance and the overall driving experience.”

As mentioned, the car will be unveiled next year and Acura is promising to release new details about it as it edges towards its introduction.

Acura doesn’t state key details about the Integra such as whether it will be a two-door like its predecessor or if it will morph into something different.
