To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the launch of the Supra in Japan, Toyota Gazoo Racing is building 35 special celebratory models.

Based on the RZ (3.0-liter) or the SZ-R models (2.0-liter) models, Toyota has revealed that the RZ “35th Anniversary Edition” car will feature Matte Storm Gray metallic paint, genuine leather seats that Google translates as red but look more purple to me, and it can be optioned however else the buyer likes.

The SZ-R “35th Anniversary Edition” version comes with sport brakes with red calipers, matte black painted door mirrors, Alcantara and leather seats (also in “red”), and sport pedals. This one can be ordered in any color the buyers chooses, though, including Lightning Yellow.

No matter which model you choose, it will come with 19-inch forged aluminum wheels painted matte black and the front passenger dashboard will feature a specially designed 35th-anniversary carbon ornament.

In order to get your hands on one of these special edition Supras, Toyota says Japanese customers will have to apply online between August 6 and 31. The automaker will then pick 35 applications at random on September 7. After that, the order can be finalized and the purchase put through.

Prices for the 35th Anniversary Edition in Japan start at ¥6,535,000 ($59,293 USD) for the SZ-R “35th Anniversary Edition” and at ¥7,835,000 ($71,088 USD) for the RZ “35th Anniversary Edition.” Toyota hasn’t provided a breakdown for how many of each car it will produce but previously said that it would make 27 units of a special RZ Supra in Matte Storm Gray Metallic. If that was a reference to this car, as seems likely, that would suggest that it will make just eight SZ-Rs.
