Cadillac announced that it took a little over 10 minutes for the 2023 Lyriq Debut Edition to sell out after reservations were opened on Saturday afternoon.

Shoppers could secure an allocation for just $100. It was initially reported that allocations were sold out in 19 minutes but General Motors vice president Rory Harvey later confirmed that it took “just over” 10 minutes for the EV to sell out.

There are a couple of caveats to point out, however. These are simply reservations and not actual orders and in all likelihood, some reservations holders won’t go through with purchasing the Lyriq. Then there’s the fact that Cadillac hasn’t announced how many Lyriq Debut Edition models it is building – it could be anything from a few hundred to a few thousand, or perhaps more.

All Lyriq Debut Edition models come with a 100.4 kWh battery pack and an electric motor driving the rear wheels. It is producing a Cadillac-estimated 340 hp and 425 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque and includes an advanced five-link suspension system. Key exterior features include a full-glass roof, 20-inch wheels as standard, and optional 22-inch wheels.

Found in the cabin of the Lyriq Debut Edition is an AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system, active noise cancellation, a heated steering wheel, 8-way adjustable power driver and front passenger seats, and a huge 33-inch display encompassing the gauge cluster and infotainment screen.

It also has safety features that include Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking with Bicyclist Detection, HD Surround Vision and Vision Recorder, Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Side Bicyclist Alert.
