Mini is celebrating the Mini Cooper’s success on the racetrack with a new special edition package available for the John Cooper Works Hardtop 2 Door.

The Mini Anniversary Edition honors the work of the Cooper Car Company and the generations of racers who have taken the Mini Cooper onto the racetracks of the world, starting almost as soon as the first model with the now legendary badge debuted in 1961.

Available exclusively in British Racing Green with white hood stripes and red outlines, the look has been derived from the Cooper Car Company’s design motif. It also gets the number 74 placed prominently on its hood as a tribute to the Mini Cooper’s first race, in which it ran under the number.

The tributes to the Cooper Car Company continue inside, as its logo is placed on the Anniversary Edition’s door sills and side scuttles. The signatures of three generations of Coopers—John, John Michael, and Charlie—are all etched in the cockpit fascia.

“The Cooper name shares a storied history with MINI, and this new Anniversary Edition reflects the Cooper performance heritage, offering a classic and sporty appearance,” said Patrick McKenna, Department Head of Marketing Product and Strategy, MINI USA. “John Cooper kicked off sixty years of performance innovation with the original Mini Cooper, and the Anniversary Edition honors the Cooper legacy that helped define MINI’s performance pedigree over the last six decades.”

Available to order now from dealers, the Mini Anniversary Edition package comes with a white roof and mirror caps, a panoramic moonroof, touchscreen navigation, and a host of other features. Prices start at $39,900 (or $40,750 with the $850 destination fee included) and just 740 are being made globally.
