Some things never seen to go out of style and a number of automakers apparently believe blackout editions fall into this category as we’ve seen countless versions over the years.

The latest is the 2022 Nissan Altima Midnight Edition, which is based on the mid-level SR trim and available exclusively with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.

As the name suggests, the Midnight Edition has a dark appearance thanks to gloss black paint on the grille, spoiler and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The model also sports satin black badging and black side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Besides the styling upgrades, the special edition package adds LED fog lights and a moonroof. They’re joined by heated front seats with two-way power lumbar support on the driver’s side.

Putting the special edition aside, the 2022 Nissan Altima starts at $24,550 which is the same as last year’s model. Pricing isn’t the only thing that carries over as the sedan continues to be offered with two different powertrains including the aforementioned 2.5-liter four-cylinder that develops up to 188 hp (140 kW / 191 PS) and 180 lb-ft (244 Nm) of torque.

Customers can also opt for a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 236 hp (176 kW / 239 PS) and 267 lb-ft (362 Nm) of torque. The latter engine is available exclusively on the Altima SR and it raises the price from $27,950 to $30,900. It’s also worth noting the turbocharged engine isn’t available with all-wheel drive.

Note: Prices exclude a $975 destination and handling fee
