The latest nation to get the BMW special edition treatment is the United Arab Emirates, where customers will be able to buy one of just 50 limited edition X7 “UAE 50th Year Edition” SUVs. Described as a “special milestone for a special country,” as the name implies the model has been launched to celebrate the country’s golden jubilee.

The largest of BMW’s SUVs, the X7 is a popular choice in the Middle East, so it’s no surprise that the German automaker decided it was best-suited for the special edition treatment.

Differences between the X7 UAE 50th Year and a standard model boil down to three main aspects. Firstly, the special edition features a brand new shade of white. Dubbed “Frozen Brilliant White Metallic,” the color is described as bespoke, and “omnipresent in the UAE’s cultural motifs.” The shade is also applied to the M V-spoke wheels on the M50i variant.

Inside and out, the UAE Special Edition features a unique insignia which, on the dash, is handcrafted into the wood trim. Written in Arabic, the emblem has the words “UAE 50 years, 1 of 50.”

Finally, the X7 UAE 50th Year Edition comes with its very own scent — no, not the kind you wear per se, but instead an individualized cartridge for BMW’s Ambient Air air freshener. The Amberblack Suite Scent is said to be a specially formulated car fragrance that “takes your senses on a journey that’s unmistakably UAE”.

The tribute can be had in either xDrive40i spec with a 3-liter petrol 340 hp engine or in M50i spec with a 4.4-liter petrol engine with 530 hp. Price-wise, the special edition will start at AED 528,000 ($144,000 at current exchange rates), while the M50i starts at AED 582,000 ($158,500). If you’re interested, you might want to get a move on too, because, at the time of writing, just 24 of the 50 cars were still available.
