Chevrolet has stopped taking orders for the 2022 Colorado’s Trail Boss Package due to higher-than-expected demand for the option.

The Trail Boss Package consists of black tailgate lettering, black Colorado badges, red recovery hooks, a mid skid plate, a 1-inch front leveling kit, 17-inch high gloss black wheels, and a front skid plate. Customers have been able to order the Trail Boss Package on Colorado LT and Z71 models with any of the three available powertrains.

However, GM Authority notes that the package is no longer available as it took just one month for the automaker to receive three times as many orders as it was expecting for the entire model year. As such, GM simply doesn’t have enough parts to keep up with the demand. The publication notes that the Trail Boss’s alloy wheels are in particularly short supply.

The demand for the package also means that some customers who ordered the pack will no longer receive it and their Colorados will be built without.

In other Colorado-related news, we know that an all-new generation model is just around the corner and our spy photographers snapped it testing back in late September. Not only that but CarScoops spotted it in ZR2 guise.

Body cladding and heavy camouflage on the snapped test trucks have made it difficult to determine what visual modifications will be made to the new Colorado but it is understood the truck will be based on the GM Global B platform and will share its 2.7-liter inline-four with the GMC Sierra. If that’s the case, it should have around 310 hp and 348 lb-ft (472 Nm) in ZR2 guise.
