European fans of cycling and smallish reliable cars should be celebrating after Toyota announced the new Corolla TREK Special Edition model today.

Made in partnership with leading bicycle manufacturer TREK Bikes, the model builds on the TREK Touring Sport model and adds higher specifications and a more purposeful design.

Powered exclusively by Toyota’s 2.0-liter self-charging hybrid electric system, it is raised by 20mm (0.7 inches), features wheel arch moldings, as well as front and rear underruns. It also introduces new 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome door window frames on the outside.

Inside, it gets piano black door handles, black leather upholstery, and a satin chrome deco line across the instrument panel. Pre-sales of the model are set to begin in Europe by the end of the month, with deliveries starting in January 2022 (depending on the market). Prices have not yet been announced.

New Tech And Colors Too

Along with the new model, Toyota Europe has also made a few additions to the 2022 Corolla. Gaining the automaker’s latest and greatest multimedia system, the Corolla will get more connectivity features than ever next year. The tech is offered as standard on the Mid+, GR SPORT, TREK, and High grades, and as an option on lower-trim models.

The new infotainment tech has a more powerful CPU that operates 2.4 times faster than the current one, making it react to commands quicker. It can be operated via an eight-inch touchscreen or voice controls. The new system also allows for over-the-air updates to keep it fresh and fast.

The range also gets a collection of new colors for the new year. Customers will now be able to order the compact car in Platinum White Pearl and Silver Metallic – which are also available as a two-tone combination for the Hatchback and Touring Sport body styles.

Newly designed 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels with a bright machined finish are also being added to the lineup for 2022 to really make the Corolla pop. These will come as standard on the Mid+ grade, and will be an option on the High grade model.
