The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has lost its Carbon Fiber Handling Package for the 2022 model year.

The Carbon Fiber Handling Package was introduced at the start of the year, priced at $10,000 and sitting between the $1,500 Handling Pack and the $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack. Sadly, the automaker has confirmed that this package was only ever intended for the 2021 model year.

“The Carbon Fiber Handling package was a limited run for 21MY,” a Ford spokesperson confirmed to CarScoops. “For 22MY we are offering eight new colors and five new appearance packages – including the new Shelby GT500 Heritage edition.”

A number of upgrades came with the Carbon Fiber Handling Package. These include 20-inch black-painted carbon fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, a catch can, gurney flap, splitter wickers, and wheel lock kit. The more expensive Carbon Fiber Track Pack has 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels and also adds a carbon fiber instrument panel, carbon fiber rear wing, Recaro leather seats, rear seat delete, and Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires measuring 305/30 front and 315/30 rear.

The aforementioned Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition has been designed to pay tribute to the original 1967 Shelby GT500 and features a unique Brittany Blue exterior with Wimbledon White racing stripes. The 2022 Shelby GT500 is also available in a new color dubbed Code Orange that’s also offered in the GT, F-150, and upcoming Bronco Raptor.
