Hyundai today announced plans to start offering its customers integrated, clean energy charging solutions for their homes. Available under the Hyundai Home brand, the company will sell high-quality solar panels, energy storage systems, and EV chargers.

“The goal of the Hyundai Home energy ecosystem is to provide an end-to-end mobility solution that lowers the barriers to EV adoption and gives customers dependable, industry-leading, clean electric power, and the ability to charge their electric vehicle at home,” said Olabisi Boyle, VP Product Planning and Mobility Strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “With Hyundai Home, Hyundai is delivering a seamless EV ownership experience that empowers consumers to adopt eco-friendly technologies in the manner that best fits their lifestyles.”

Hyundai promises that each customer will get a personalized purchase process for their home, and will receive help from a “concierge” whose job is to walk customers through the process. The brand says that Hyundai Home will allow customers to buy everything they need from one brand, rather than having to choose from a variety of brands.

To do that, it will select the best products from partners and guide customers through the process to help them meet their energy needs. Although Hyundai no doubt hopes you’ll buy one of their EVs, the system will work with any EV or plug-in hybrid. The 240-volt (Level 2) charger it offers can charge EVs three to seven times faster than a normal 110-volt outlet can manage.

Pricing has not yet been revealed, but Hyundai Home will launch in the select markets in 2022 at affordable prices. Hyundai joins Tesla, Electrify America, and others in offering home charging solutions for electric vehicles.
