The Tesla Model S Plaid is all the rage nowadays and accelerates unlike any other production car in a straight line. However, what’s it like apart from its amazing straight line performance?

Eager to put the car through its paces, Throttle House managed to get their hands on one from a dealership in Toronto, Canada. Their review only shows the car being driven on a track but they did drive it on the street and say that it is a very good cruiser. However, it begins to fall down on the track.

A combination of three electric motors and a 100 kWh battery pack results in an astonishing 1,020 hp. As such, it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2 seconds flat and will top out at 200 mph (320 km/h), once a software update is made. However, there is more to a great performance car than insane levels of power and that is where the Model S Plaid starts to show its deficiencies.

The most significant issue that the presenters have with the car are the brakes. They say that for a car with this much power and that weighs so much, it simply does have strong enough brakes. They are also prone to quickly overheating the moment you start to push it around a circuit.

In addition, the handling of the Model S Plaid leaves a lot to be desired. When driven at its limits, the power steering simply can’t keep up with quick inputs, meaning you are occasionally left with completely unassisted steering.
